What is a CSA?
A CSA is a partnership between farmers and community members where customers subscribe to a season’s worth of fresh, local produce in advance.

Why a CSA Matters (and why ours is different)

For Farmers

  • Stability over seasonality: Upfront or installment support helps us plan labor, water, compost, manure spreading, etc. — all the practices and work allowing us to farm regeneratively (not reactively).

  • Soil first = quality first: Your membership funds cover crops, mulching, compost, and minimal-till practices that build soil life and flavor.

For Community

  • Local dollars stay local: Your share supports Redlands jobs, our local food system, and keeps our groves alive!

  • Food with a face: Pick up on the farm, meet the growers, and see where your food is grown.

For You

  • Peak-season nutrition: Picked at ripeness, not for trucking. More flavor, more nutrients.

  • Seasonal variety: Some months will be citrus-heavy, others a vibrant mix of avocados, tomatoes, and blackberries—because your box reflects what’s truly in season.

How It Works

  1. Choose your share:

    1. Small box

    2. Large box

    3. Just the ‘cados

  2. Pick up: Every other Monday, 4–8 pm on Marion Road (starting Dec 15, 2025).

  3. Eat seasonally: Expect oranges and avocados most of the year, with blackberries and tomatoes folded in as summer arrives. Boxes will be heavier on citrus in the winter and more diverse in the summer.

  4. Do good: Your membership funds soil-building and water-wise practices that keep this 40-acre grove thriving for generations. We can’t do it without your support. Farming this way is more labor and time intensive. It’s also a long-term commitment because it takes time to restore soil and food health.

  5. Member Guidelines (friendly, but important)

    1. Box exchange: Please return your crate/bag each pickup. Bring last box when you pick up the next.

    2. Pickup window: Mondays 4–8 pm. Can’t make it? Send a friend—just text us their name.

    3. Missed boxes: Unclaimed boxes are donated locally (e.g., YouthHope / Family Services) at day’s end—no refunds, but your food does good.

    4. Communication: We’ll email before the season starts and text reminders on pickup weeks.

    5. Add-ons: Extra fruit or seconds may be available at pickup.

What to Expect — Eating with the Seasons

Your CSA box will change throughout the 9-month season—because that’s how nature works best!

  • Winter & Spring (Dec–May): Boxes are citrus-heavy with juicy navels, Valencias, and creamy avocados.

  • Early Summer (May–June): Oranges continue, avocados peak, and blackberries begin to make an appearance.

  • Summer (June–Aug): A colorful mix—avocados, sweet Valencias, vine-ripened tomatoes, and blackberries.

Why this matters: Grocery stores offer the same fruits year-round by shipping them thousands of miles, often picked underripe. By contrast, your CSA box reflects the rhythm of the grove—what’s ready, ripe, and most flavorful at that moment.

When boxes feel “heavy on oranges” early in the season, it’s because citrus is abundant and at its nutritional peak. When summer arrives, you’ll notice more variety as tomatoes and berries ripen. That ebb and flow is the beauty of eating with the seasons—healthier for you, healthier for the soil, and healthier for our community.
